Sorry for the delay in posting the photos for the 8th Annual Keuka Lake Triathlon.

The company that host the server where all the photos for this event, is located in Texas.  Because of the weather on June 8th, they encountered a few power outages.

Unfortunate for us, it happened while indexing all the photos with participants bib numbers. I was inform on June 9th that we would have to index all photos again. Instead of taking another 2 to 3 days to accomplish this and because of all the emails that I have received asking to see the photos, I decided to go ahead and release the photos posted without a complete indexing.

Please find your photos by viewing and finding them by category. A few bib numbers may still be in tack and you can try that also.

There where three fun distances for all to choose from;  6K, 13K and 22K.

Competitors experienced the thrill and demands of Allegany State Park’s Art Roscoe Trail System.  Starting and finishing at the Summit Ski Cabin just inside the Red House area of the park entrance.  The race featured terrific door prizes from multiple great sponsors, warm snacks after the race and a fun social experience.

Groomed double set tracks provide mile after mile of lung pumping action including rolling hills, , challenging climbs, fun descents and a thrilling sprint to the finish line.

Over 200 runners braved two course distances during the 2010 Ellicottville Ultra Trail Run. The 12-Mile course was all it was expected to be and the 4-miler sent runners through the arch with a grin of pain & fun on their faces.

11th Annual 6 Hours of Power!

2010 Photos and Race Results.

6 Hours of Power 2010 kicked off on Sunday, July 18th at Holiday Valley’s Mountain Sports Center. From 10am-4pm Solo riders and two-person tag teams competed for the most laps on a 10-mile off-road course on some of Western New York’s most exciting trails.

A pumping transition area, clearly marked course, two water stations and always positive vibe sets the stage for the summers most demanding annual event.

6 Hours of Power is a test of stamina, endurance and pure adrenalin that sent all participants home with that sneering grin mountain bikers know too well.

The race took place in Ellicottville, New York at Holiday Valley ski resort. It was presented by HeartRateUp.com and a Post-race pasta party (complimentary for all competitors) started at 4:30pm. Awards ceremony and lots of swag give-away was at 6:00pm.

They came, they hammered, and while others slept snug in thier beds they hammered a wild, challenging and demanding course only few can brag about.

*Sorry about the coverage of the runners. I had everything set up to shoot the being of the run course and at the start it decided to pour rain. So while you guys were running pass me I was busy covering up gear.

Heart Rate Up Snow Shoe Scramble

The innagural Sprague Brook Park Scramble Snoweshoe Race kicks off at 10am on Sunday, February 21st at Sprague Brook Park in Glenwood, New York. Just a minute down the road from Kissing Bridge Sprague Brook Park is a jewel of a county park featuring serene and attention getting cross country ski & snowshoe trails.

-Why is it called a scramble? Because that’s what we named it.
-Use gaitors if you don’t like snowy and wet socks/ankles.
-Use running or trail shoes vs. big heavy boots.
-You will sweat, so dress so you’re chilly at the start.
-Yes you can run in snowshoes, even though it feels like tennis rackets are strapped to your feet. The best type to use for racing/fast moving are 24″ or shorter shoes. Those giant ones from 1949 you found in your grandpas barn are not going to cut it.
-Carry your own water bottle if you want a refreshment during the race-there are no water stations.
-What if it’s rainy or it hasn’t snowed in 2-weeks? So what, there’s likely to be snow, at least some so don’t be a baby and try it.
-If there’s absolutely no snow, zip, nada, gravel & dirt we will have a trail-run instead.
-Can I wear sneakers or take off my snoweshoes and run like a normal person and still get a finish time? No-keep those babies strapped on and tough it out.
-Are there narrow single track trails in this race? No. Wide, rolling trails, no trees or sticks to jump over.
-Can I try it if I can’t even run across my yard in the snowshoes I just got for Christmas? Sure you can. Just keep up a good pace and follow the signs to the finish line. Walk all you want, just stay on course and get a goin!
-If I come in dead last will everyone laugh at me? No way. Snowshoeing is fun, different and a growing sport that celebrates winters beauty and has terrific health benefits including a tremendous cardio workout, full body workout and a heart pounding experience. And yes-you will sweat.
-Can I stop & walk? Sure you can. Just follow the course through the finish.
-Is there a huge party at the finish line and do you serve steak dinners? No. But you can bring your own snacks to feast on-it’s a park.
-What if 7,038 people show up? Great! However the warming hut is our home base and it’s tight, small and has a wood burning stove to keep your toasties warm. Space will be tight if we get a good turnout so please help conserve table space and don’t hog the place.
-Why in the world would anyone ever consider running with tennis rackets strapped to their feet? Because it’s fun. And once you try it you will find out for yourself, and you will most likely be very tired & sore and limp around work the next few days bragging about the coolest new sport you just discovered as people stare at you like you have 3-heads.
-Isn’t the ski loop there for skiers? Yes, and it’s groomed with special equipment designed to make a flat, smooth ski track a few times a week so area skiers can enjoy one of the nicest park ski loops in all of Western New York. Immediately following the Scramble the course will be re-rolled to preserve conditions for skiers. Please stay off the course and use other non-ski designated trails after the Scramble.

on a first-come first-served basis from Gear for Adventure Sports.
Cost: $10. License required while you’re renting. Return after the race.

The Art Roscoe Loppet on Sunday, February 7th.

First timer or seasoned pro the courses of the Art Roscoe are like no other trails in our region. All distances feature double set tracks the night before our event (pending adequate conditions) and a centralized start/finish area right near our registration Summit ski lodge. Wide, rolling trails challenge all skiers and our 22K blockbuster course features a 2-mile finishing climb.

With a breathtaking backdrop of Allegany State Park’s almost endless forest trails in the background we are proud to host another fun winter Loppet with the generous help of our volunteers & sponsors.

Twas the week before Christmas most wrapped in their Snuggies, But not the hard core they were going out running
Track pants were on, sneakers were laced, You do the shopping, I will go race
The Freezer this year has a number for me, A holiday 5K around waterfront streets
Run in the cold, at a fun race, At mile 1 they will call out my pace
Burr it’s cold, it’s freezing outside, But I’d rather be here vs. in the mall lines
I’ve got my fleece hat and my fingered gloves, After I run I’ll fill my stomach with love.


The 2009 Freezer 5K Run kicks off at 11am in the Cobblestone District of Downtown Buffalo on Sunday, December 20th.

Our USATF Sanctioned 5K Run features a 3.1 mile course on the roads around the HSBC Arena, the Buffalo Serviceman’s Naval Park and to/from the Erie Basin Marina on Erie Rd.

Sure it’s most likely going to be chilly, and perhaps a tad snowy, but we aren’t calling it the Freezer for nothing! Our 2009 event helps support the Buffalo Police Athletic League (providing athletic opportunities for our city youth programs) highlighting the health benefits of physical fitness and sports leadership.

A hoppin’, warm post-race party at WJ Morrissey’s will feature DJ entertainment, great Irish food, pizza, adult beverages from Lake Placid Brewing Company and soft drinks/hot drinks to keep your holiday season heated up!
Holiday attire strongly encouraged!
